Munay (pronounced
moo-nigh) is a Quechua word from the Andes which means love. But the love referred to
as munay more aptly describes an experience rather than a feeling. It is a way of being that derives from
the pure essence of love, of oneness with all things.
In the words of Jose Luis Herrera:
Munay is the cohesiveness of atoms, particles, galaxies, the succession of the seasons, the rivers that
flow on the belly of Pachamama (Mother Earth), the gazelle that gives her life to sustain a lioness and her cubs, the way
a seed sprouts into a flower. Munay is unconditional, timeless, and it is the vessel that allows us to taste infinity. It
is a state of being.
Isn’t the wisdom of my MIND much smarter than the wisdom of my HEART?
The Quechua word for intellect is llachay, and
in the western world, we rely on our intellect to navigate through our lives. While
operating from our llachay or intellect can serve us very well much of the time, there are drawbacks as well.
When we are operating from our llachay (intellect / mind / thought), we experience ourselves as isolated beings, distinctly
separate and disconnected from all other particles in our world. Negative beliefs have been found to cause
physical disease. When we change the way we look at things, the things we look at change.
When we are operating from the munay (heart)
we experience being interconnected and non-separate from all things and all creatures – other humans, cacti, stones,
plants, rivers, mountains, jaguars, hummingbirds, amoebae, bacteria, scrap metal and stars. When we are in munay,
we remember that we are one with all things and all beings.
This is a state where we can see that all is well. Holding this perspective allows us to come into
balance or right relationship with all things (ayni). It also allows us to come into a healed state. Being in
munay allows us to come into experiencing joy – from within.
Here at MunayWisdom, we learn to step away from navigating solely
by the intellect (llachay) and to step into the wisdom of our heart – into munay – to see, touch and become beauty;
to source from wisdom, and thus to set a truer direction for our lives. Our goal here at MunayWisdom is to access
and navigate our life from the wisdom of our heart, which incorporates and yet transcends the knowledge of the intellect.
Everything we do here at MunayWisdom comes from the wisdom of the heart. We use the ways of the Medicine
people of the high mountains in Peru to effect wholeness in clients. And by seeing our clients as whole, they can step
into experiencing themselves as whole. We also teach individuals and groups how to bring healing (or wholeness) to themselves
on all levels – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.
How do we do this?
There are certain techniques used to remove heavy energies from the luminous energy field of clients, which, if
left as is can begin to inform a person’s spiritual life, emotions, mental health and ultimately a person’s physical
body, causing dis-ease. We work to remove these energies to bring the whole person into balance.
But more than using techniques, we hold a person in our
consciousness and in our hearts in a certain way – we see him or her as whole, perfect and complete. And
the act of doing so helps the client to claim that wholeness and to step into renewed levels of balance.
What's
the Difference Between Healing and Curing?
Sometimes the “healing” we do helps to bring about a cure. Sometimes
it does not. In our Western culture, curing often occurs – sometimes through surgery or chemotherapy or other
methods – but if there is no healing done along with the curing, frequently the disease will come back because the message
the disease has had for us has not been integrated or because our body’s energetic affinity for that disease is still
in place. Healing means “to make whole,” and that is our goal at MunayWisdom. When we help our clients
heal or become whole, they come into a place of integrating the wisdom of an event or an obstacle, a disease or a relationship.
And a lovely side effect of that healing can sometimes be a physical
cure.
